Simplex Testing

Simplex Net Instructions

There is a button on the bottom of the page to join the net after reading the instructions

1) Go to simplex.w4hhh.org and enter your call sign to log into the net. You will only be permitted to login within 15 minutes of an upcoming test, so don’t login early or late. Once the test/net starts you will NOT be able to join.  Turn on your vhf radio, tuned to 146.000 MHz.

2) After login you will be presented with the screen below. The boxes will all be empty with no status or caller before the test starts so wait for them to populate at the designated test start time. Then simply watch for the call speaking and their time remaining. If that call is you, give your call sign and say what you would like for about 30 seconds. After that time the Admin ( KK4NEJ ) will switch to the next call up that you can see in the yellow box. Then it’s that callers turn to speak.

3) While the caller is speaking, simply click the 0-10 buttons to rate their signal. You can change your rating as many times as you like while that caller’s name appears in the Green Call speaking box. All call results can be seen live in the bottom table. So if you are speaking as the current call and see that all users have given you a rating , you pretty much know you are finished speaking.

4) After the end of the test you will be able to click the print button and print results for your contacts or the entire net. If there are a lot of people on, I recommend just printing your own.

5) Extras:…. If at any time the Net Status box turns red and says PAUSED, it means the admin has stopped the net for some reason. If so, the admin may send a chat message in the “Simplex Chat” section of the screen. If you would like to send a message to the entire group just double click the + icon on the chat section and you will be able to send whatever you like. Please use this judiciously as it can be distracting during a test, but if you have a question or need help type it in there and if need be the admin can pause the test/net.

The web portal screen will look something like this.  This screenshot was taken during a recent test.
